Dallas Police, detectives, and crime scene units responded to multiple people shot near the corner of South Malcolm X and Twyman Avenue Thursday night. NBC 5’s Larry Collins tells us more.

Seven people were hospitalized late Thursday after Dallas police say several people opened fire on a group of people outside a gas station in Wheatley Place.

Dallas police said a caller reported at about 8 p.m. that multiple people had been shot near the corner of South Malcolm X and Twyman Avenue/Lenway Street.

Police confirmed seven people were transported to the hospital, including two in critical condition.

A preliminary investigation revealed that "unknown suspects shot multiple victims" at the location.

Police have not shared any information on what they believe led to the shooting and they have not identified any suspects or announced any arrests.

The shooting took place in South Dallas's historic Wheatley Place neighborhood.
